DISTRICT GOVERNOR 2007-08:
Jim Graham
Rotary Club of Brownsburg
Jim's first contact with Rotary happened in 1956 when he was invited to speak at Philipsburg, Ohio Rotary Club. His grandfather, Dr. O.M. Graham, had founded the club a few years earlier and Jim, home on leave having completed Navy flight training, spoke about his early Navy service. Jim was invited to a February meeting of the Brownsburg Rotary Club and due to the President-Elect moving away a month before he was to take office, Jim was put into the President's job in July of the same year, 1993.
Jim's wife Roberta joined the club a year later, became President in 1997, and set all kinds of records for the club with 100% Paul Harris membership and 100% attendance at the District Conference and the International Convention during her year as President.
Being named GSE team leader in 2002 to South Africa was a life- changing experience in Jim's Rotary life. His trip resulted in six matching grants with more on the way. Jim spoke to all 44 clubs in the district about the GSE trip. Jim was named Assistant Governor for two years, then Deputy Governor.
Jim retired recently from 14 years as chief pilot for the Indiana State Medical Association, and he has joined the board of the Indiana War Memorial Commission. He continues his part time work and ownership of the Pacific World Trade, trading with China and acting as the State of Indiana's representative in China. He is active in Boy Scouts and served as Chairman of the Navy/Marine Corps Alumni League of Purdue, where he holds an Masters degree in Chemical Engineering. He is a retired military officer with 8 years of service as Naval Aviator and 20 as an Army National Guard pilot. He retired as President of AGA Corporation, a distribution and real estate investment company. He and Roberta are both Paul Harris Fellows.
